Grade 2 Ballet Technique

Grade 2 Ballet Technique is the fifth level of Janice Barringer’s Ballet Technique and is designed for students ages 10–12. At this stage, dancers are ready for increased technical challenge, musical sophistication, and a deeper understanding of classical ballet vocabulary.

In Grade 2, students expand their strength and coordination through more advanced barre and center work. This level introduces more refined port de bras, grande plié, 4th position, and higher leg extensions. Students also begin developing pirouette preparation and execution, building stability, control, and alignment.

Center practice includes foundational adagio work and the exploration of classical poses such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th arabesques. Petit allegro becomes more dynamic with jetés, assemblés, and connecting steps that build clarity and speed. Across the floor, dancers progress into piqué turns, chaîné turns, tombé pas de bourrée, pas de chat, and pas de basque, strengthening coordination and directional awareness.

This Digital Audio and Video Bundle provides teachers with the full musical structure for presenting a comprehensive Grade 2 class, including original compositions, vocal instruction, and reference materials.
