Taylor Hughes
Taylor is a dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher from Thousand Oaks, California. Her passion for dance began at Retter’s Academy of Dance under the direction of Linda Bernabei Retter and Darryl Retter. Taylor had the opportunity to be a Senior Company member at LA Dance Magic where she assisted, danced, and performed around the country under the direction of Jackie Sleight. While at RAD she assisted Cara Mandel on the SONY “Smurf’s” music video, was featured in a plethora of dance films, and received the Winston Hemsley and Al Gilbert Memorial Scholarships.
Taylor recently graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Dance Performance and an emphasis in Business and Economics. Throughout her collegiate experience, she performed in a variety of concerts, choreographed works, and taught dance in Orange County. While pursuing her education, Taylor concurrently was an apprentice with Backhaus Dance Company. She also enjoyed working with and training under Dwight Rhoden, Wilson Mendieta, Will Johnston, Jennifer Backhaus, and Julianne O’brien.
Taylor enjoys the intersection of the concert and commercial dance industry and can be featured in dance films by Brian Golden, Azuki Umeda, and Lilian Manasala. Taylor is currently a part of Geometry Contemporary Dance Company, and she is passionate about pursuing a career in the dance industry.
