Grade 3 to 4 Transition Class

The Grade 3 to 4 Transition Class is the eighth level in Janice Barringer’s Ballet Technique and is designed for high-intermediate to early-advanced students, generally ages 14 and up. This level serves as an essential bridge, preparing dancers for the significantly more demanding work found in Grade 4.

The class gradually increases technical difficulty to strengthen control, placement, flexibility, and musical phrasing. Exercises reinforce the precision and vocabulary learned in Grade 3 while introducing more advanced concepts in a manageable, progressive format. This intentional pacing helps dancers build confidence, prevent injury, and enter Grade 4 with the coordination, alignment, and stamina required for advanced classical training.

This instructional video offers clear demonstrations paired with Janice Barringer’s detailed explanations, giving teachers a reliable, thoughtfully structured resource for guiding students through this transitional stage.

Video Playtime: 1 hr, 15 min.

Note: The music heard in the video appears only as part of the instructional demonstration. A separate classroom-ready music recording is available as its own MusicWorks product.
