Al Gilbert Tap Technique – Grade 7
 
This is the ORIGINAL Al Gilbert Grade 7 Tap Technique set to a piano-and-drums soundtrack. Building on the close-to-the-floor training established in Grade 6, this level moves dancers firmly into an advanced, pre-professional stage of tap technique. With over 50 exercises, Grade 7 is designed to strengthen endurance, control, and rhythmic command through sustained, demanding combinations.
 
Grade 7 focuses heavily on advanced close-to-the-floor work, including combinations such as heel shuffle, heel scuffle, and heel riffle. Al Gilbert also digs deeply into riff vocabulary with material such as syncopated 7-tap riffs, riff traveling time steps, and 8-, 12-, and 14-tap riff walks. Numerous wing and pullback combinations are included to further strengthen the dancer’s use of the nerve tap, reinforcing power, clarity, and consistency at higher tempos. As with every level in the Al Gilbert Tap Technique, material is presented in a systematic, progressive format that supports confident teaching and advanced technical growth.
