Jazz Technique Level 1 by Darryl Retter is designed for dancers ages 7–10 and provides a clear, progressive foundation for beginning jazz students. This complete syllabus helps teachers build coordination, control, musicality, and confidence while introducing the essential vocabulary and movement patterns students need as they progress in jazz training.

The class is organized into three sections:

Section 1 – Technique:
Warm-up, plié, passé, and floor work with detailed breakdowns and multiple viewing angles to support clear instruction and correct placement.

Section 2 – Center Floor:
More than 25 progressive exercises designed to develop coordination, control, balance, and confidence.

Section 3 – Across the Floor
Progressions: features chassé, grapevine, chaîné turns, pivots, soutenu turns, and additional traveling movements that reinforce technique, rhythm, and flow.

Whether you are establishing a new jazz program or strengthening an existing beginner curriculum, Jazz Technique Level 1 gives teachers a structured, ready-to-use foundation for young dancers.
