Danceography on Tap, Vol. 1 by Darryl Retter is a collection of three recital-ready tap dances that combine performance choreography with progressive classroom training.
Progression Connection
What makes Danceography different is Progression Connection.
Each dance includes 10 across-the-floor progressions built directly from movement found in the corresponding choreography. Teachers can introduce these combinations during the technique-focused part of the dance year, giving students time to develop the movement vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and performance qualities they will later use in the recital dance.

The choreography gives intermediate dancers the opportunity to work on rhythmic clarity, musicality, staging, and performance quality while enjoying a relaxed but lively musical style.

GetUpOffaDatThang - Advanced Tap | Grade 5 | Ages 14+
A challenging advanced tap dance driven by strong percussion and a blend of African-inspired and American urban sounds. The powerful rhythmic structure demands precision, stamina, musical awareness, and confident performance from experienced tappers. An African chant within the music loosely conveys the idea of people of peace rejoicing, adding another layer of energy and character to the piece.
