Danceography on Lyrical, Vol. 3 by Darryl Retter is a collection of three recital-ready lyrical dances for students ranging from low intermediate to advanced dancers, complete with choreography videos, music, choreography notes, and a teaching system designed to connect technique training directly to recital choreography.
Each routine has been developed for the dance studio and recital stage, giving teachers expressive choreography with meaningful themes that can be built into the season with purpose.
Progression Connection
What makes Danceography different is Progression Connection.
Each dance includes 10 across-the-floor progressions built directly from movement found in the corresponding choreography. Teachers can introduce these combinations during the technique-focused part of the dance year, giving students time to develop the movement vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and performance qualities they will later use in the recital dance.
When recital choreography begins, the movement is no longer completely new—the dancers have already been working with important elements of it in class. With three dances included, Danceography on Lyrical, Vol. 3 provides 30 Progression Connection across-the-floor exercises.

I Wanna Believe – Low Intermediate Lyrical | Ages 9-11
A heartfelt lyrical dance inspired by the power and innocence of a child’s imagination. The piece invites dancers to explore wonder, optimism, and expressive storytelling while creating a performance that celebrates seeing the world through a younger perspective.

An emotionally driven lyrical piece centered on perseverance and continuing forward even when circumstances feel difficult. The choreography gives dancers the opportunity to develop emotional connection, musicality, and expressive movement while communicating a message of resilience and hope.

Like I Do – Advanced Lyrical
An electronica-pop ballad built around the idea of recognizing someone’s potential even when they may not yet see it themselves. Created for strong lyrical dancers, the choreography challenges performers with more demanding movement, musical interpretation, control, and mature performance quality.
