Danceography on Lyrical, Vol. 1 by Darryl Retter is a collection of three recital-ready lyrical dances for students ranging from low intermediate to advanced dancers, complete with choreography videos, music, choreography notes, and a teaching system designed to connect technique training directly to recital choreography.
Each routine has been developed for the dance studio and recital stage, giving teachers choreography they can confidently build into their season.
Progression Connection
What makes Danceography different is Progression Connection.
Each dance includes 10 across-the-floor progressions built directly from movement found in the corresponding choreography. Teachers can introduce these combinations during the technique-focused part of the dance year, giving students time to develop the movement vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and performance qualities they will later use in the recital dance.
When recital choreography begins, the movement is no longer completely new—the dancers have already been working with important elements of it in class. With three dances included, Danceography on Lyrical, Vol. 1 provides 30 Progression Connection across-the-floor exercises.

In A Perfect World – Low Intermediate Lyrical | Ages 9-11
A sweet and imaginative lyrical dance that looks at childhood through the question: what would make life perfect from a kid’s point of view? The gentle theme gives dancers an opportunity to explore expression, storytelling, musicality, and lyrical movement.

Making Memories – Intermediate Lyrical | Ages 12–14
A lyrical ballad with an uplifting message about taking the time to create and
appreciate meaningful memories. The choreography gives dancers room to develop emotional expression, musicality, and connected movement while performing with maturity and warmth.

I Quit – Advanced Lyrical
A powerful lyrical dance built around the idea of turning a negative into a positive. Written with older teens in mind, the message centers on resilience and choosing not to give up, giving advanced dancers meaningful material to explore through both movement and performance.
