Al Gilbert Tap Technique – Grade 6 

This is the ORIGINAL Al Gilbert Grade 6 Tap Technique set to a piano-and-drums soundtrack. Building on the foundation learned in Grade 5, this level expands the close-to-the-floor concepts introduced previously and challenges dancers with quicker, more intricate tap patterns. There are 55 exercises in this program, designed to increase speed, articulation, and rhythmic accuracy.

Grade 6 places a strong emphasis on precision, control, and musical clarity as dancers are introduced to advanced vocabulary such as nerve taps, front (or “thrust”) wings, single pick-ups (pullbacks), and a focused study of syncopated steps. These exercises refine coordination and timing while strengthening the dancer’s ability to execute complex rhythmic combinations with confidence and consistency. As with every level in the Al Gilbert Tap Technique, material is presented in a structured, progressive format that supports both effective teaching and measurable student growth.
