Al Gilbert Tap Technique – Grade 5

This is the ORIGINAL Al Gilbert Grade 5 Tap Technique set to a piano-and-drums soundtrack. Building on the foundation learned in Grade 4, this level serves as the entry point into advanced tap technique. There are 47 exercises in this program, introducing dancers to more demanding steps and refined execution.

Grade 5 challenges dancers with advanced vocabulary such as single and double wings, double pullbacks, toe stands, and a variety of close-to-the-floor steps that emphasize precision, control, and musical clarity. These exercises are designed to strengthen speed, articulation, and strength while reinforcing clean technique and grounded movement. As with every level in the Al Gilbert Tap Technique, material is presented in a progressive, systematic format that supports confident teaching and consistent student advancement.
