Title

Beginner Pointe Classes by Janice Barringer is a pointe technique video resource designed to help ballet teachers introduce beginning pointe students with clarity, safety, and proper progression. Based on material from The Pointe Book, 4th Edition, this download features beginner pointe exercises from the “Sample Pointe Classes” chapter, with instruction by Janice Barringer and demonstrations by Devon Teuscher, Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre.

These exercises were taught at The Eglevsky Ballet School and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre and were notated by Ms. Barringer as part of her trusted pointe training work.

Before moving into the exercises, Janice discusses important pointe preparation topics, including the features of pointe shoes, how to choose an appropriate shoe for the beginning pointe student, and the role of ribbons, elastics, and cushioning in supporting comfort and proper fit.

This resource is ideal for ballet teachers who want a thoughtful, structured approach to beginning pointe work and a clear visual reference for introducing foundational pointe exercises.
