Danceography on Jazz, Vol. 6 by Darryl Retter

Danceography on Jazz, Vol. 6 by Darryl Retter is a collection of three recital-ready jazz dances that combine performance choreography with progressive classroom training.

Progression Connection
What makes Danceography different is Progression Connection.

Each dance includes 10 across-the-floor progressions built directly from movement found in the corresponding choreography. Teachers can introduce these combinations during the technique-focused part of the dance year, giving students time to develop the movement vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and performance qualities they will later use in the recital dance.

Dances Included

You Can Be – Low Intermediate Jazz | Ages 9–11
An upbeat jazz dance built around an encouraging message about believing in yourself and becoming who you want to be. The fresh, funky musical style gives young dancers plenty of opportunity to work on jazz technique, musicality, personality, and confident performance.

Dreams Come True – Intermediate Jazz | Ages 12–14
A positive, feel-good jazz routine with an energetic dance-club groove. The lyrics center on confidence, possibility, and seeing the best in yourself, giving young teen dancers a strong connection to the music while developing technique, musical interpretation, and performance quality.

Why Teachers Love This Collection
Danceography on Jazz gives teachers more than three finished recital routines. The Progression Connection exercises allow dancers to work with movement concepts and technical vocabulary from each piece before applying them to the choreography.

That creates a clear progression from classroom training to recital performance, while giving teachers three distinct jazz pieces for different ages, levels, and performance styles.
