Danceography on Jazz, Vol. 2 – Digital Video + Music Download

Danceography on Jazz, Vol. 2 by Darryl Retter

Danceography on Jazz, Vol. 2 by Darryl Retter is a collection of three recital-ready jazz dances that combine performance choreography with progressive classroom training.

Progression Connection
What makes Danceography different is Progression Connection.

Each dance includes 10 across-the-floor progressions built directly from movement found in the corresponding choreography. Teachers can introduce these combinations during the technique-focused part of the dance year, giving students time to develop the movement vocabulary, musicality, coordination, and performance qualities they will later use in the recital dance.

Dances Included

Summer Fun - Low Intermediate Jazz | Ages 9-11
A bright, upbeat jazz piece that captures the freedom and energy of summer. The music blends a Jamaican-inspired feel with a contemporary street groove, giving dancers plenty of room to move with personality, rhythm, and confidence. The playful summer theme and positive lyrics make this an easy piece for young dancers to connect with onstage.
Running time: 2:36

The Prowler - Intermediate Jazz | Ages 12-14
A mysterious, cinematic jazz piece with a modern superhero feel. The music combines the intrigue of a classic spy soundtrack with a contemporary urban beat, while the choreography blends 1960s-inspired movement with a current L.A.-style jazz influence. This piece gives intermediate dancers opportunities to explore dynamics, character, musicality, and strong performance presence.
Running time: 2:51

Give It All You Got - Advanced Jazz | Teens
A high-energy jazz piece built around a positive message of determination and giving your best effort. The driving dance groove and uplifting lyrics create a strong foundation for advanced choreography that challenges dancers to perform with power, precision, confidence, and commitment.
Running time: 2:56

Why Teachers Love This Collection
Danceography on Jazz gives teachers more than three finished recital routines. The Progression Connection exercises allow dancers to work with movement concepts and technical vocabulary from each piece before applying them to the choreography.

That creates a clear progression from classroom training to recital performance, while giving teachers three distinct jazz pieces for different ages, levels, and performance styles.
