Best I Can Be by Becca Retter

Best I Can Be by Becca Retter is a junior jazz routine created for dancers ages 6-8.

This upbeat recital piece combines positive energy with foundational jazz technique and a message young dancers can carry with them beyond the stage. The choreography includes Side Gallops, Side Mambo, Walking Grapevine, Jazz Square, Pivot Turn, and Side Chassé, giving teachers a practical way to reinforce familiar jazz vocabulary within a performance-ready routine.

Designed specifically for the recital stage, Best I Can Be is a strong choice for teachers looking for an age-appropriate jazz number that builds confidence, musicality, and performance quality.

The multiple music versions support teaching, rehearsal, and performance, while the choreography notes give teachers a clear framework for preparing the piece for the stage.

I will be… the best I can be!
